Bea rules...

Staat op mijn shirtje om als ENIGE Nederlander hier toch iets van een oranje gevoel aan te wakkeren. Sommige beinvloedbare collega's spreken hun eerste woordje Nederlands (Huop Holland huop), en 1 Canadees heb ik bereid gevonden om samen met mij en een bevriende Restaurant eigenaar Nederland Italie te kijken. Met zijn drieen voor een groot scherm, aftrap om 2 uur 's nachts, werkwekker om 7 uur. Maar de wedstrijd heeft het volkomen waard gemaakt!

Vanavond hopelijk groter animo. Een Nederlandse studente is voor een weekend hier. Ik kende haar al, en zij en een Canadese vriendin kwamen gisteren al in een oranje shirtje aangehobbeld. Ik heb oranje chopsticks meegenomen van een restaurant welke een nieuwe plek hebben gevonden in het haar van de Nederlandse.

Op vrijdag komt de hele NGO community bij elkaar in hetzelfde restaurant met het grote scherm en in ieder geval zal FR-IT meer bekijks krijgen. Ik ga oranje sinaasappels kopen om de mensen een beetje over te halen zodat we allemaal getuige zijn van de nieuwe oranje voetbalklappen en dat Roemenie waarschijnlijk kan gaan pakken! Lekker hoor!

De Leeuw brult, en Ban Lung mauwt al een beetje mee!

Ik kom terug op 21,22,23 of 24 juli. Moet nog even nakijken.

    heee Bas!
    Bedankt dat je op verre afstand Oranje hebt gesteund met je internationale vrienden. Ik heb alle wedstrijden (behalve die van NL-Roemenie) in de kroeg gezien en dat was het zeker waard. Behalve de laatste natuurlijk: een anti-climax... iedereen was stil en de helft ging meteen naar huis. Ik had Rode-rick mee moeten nemen, mijn oranje welp! Ik weet zeker dat hij de beste mascotte ooit was geweest, maar ja die werd niet toegelaten in de kroeg natuurlijk. Jammer hoor... Maar Bas, je komt bijna thuis en ik heb er zin in! En tegen beter weten in gaan we dit keer wat meer ondernemen goed? Sowieso zie ik je met de Sneekweek en daar heb ik vet veel zin in. Waarschijnlijk verblijf je bij Hessel, maar mocht je in die maand een woning zoeken, dan kun je uiteraard hier terecht hoor! Ik hoor je verhalen wel als je terugbent... Momenteel werk ik in de thuiszorg tot september. Moet gauw een keuze gaan maken wat opleiding of werk betreft na de zomer. We zullen zien. Nou LANGE JONGEN!! Heb vet veel zin om je te zien en te knuffelen. Liefs Frouke

    Hoi Bas,wij kennen elkaar niet. Ik ken sinds vanmiddag je moeder toen we in de sauna naast elkaar zaten. Het blijkt dat we allebei een zoon hebben die in Cambodja woont en werkt en dat we die allebei in november van plan zijn te bezoeken en dat ze allebei ook nog eens Bas heten!!! Zoiets geloof je toch niet! Ik heb haar mijn mailadres gegeven en ze schreef me meteen, zo heb ik je weblog adres ook. Ik heb haar het adres en telefoon nummer van onze Bas gestuurd, hij woont in Phnom Penh. Groetjes van Gea en ik blijf je volgen!

Dear friends, family, ex colleagues and new ones!!

Welcome to this site. New stories, reports, pictures and even video's of my work and private life (until a certain level) in Cambodia will be uploaded on this site. Messages, reactions by readers can be uploaded too. I will be more than happy to read them...

My departure for Cambodia comes closer everyday by now. September the 5th will be the day that I'm leaving Holland. As for now, I've finished my motorbike lessons, some training weekends, passed an extensive medical test (no epo was found ;)

After my arrival, I will attend courses (mainly the Cambodian langugage called Khmer) and will probably meet a lot of people together with the team of new arrivals. My employer in Cambodia will be the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport. I will be working on a district level as an educational adviser in a rough region of Cambodia. The district is called Rattanakiri (google the pics), not far from the border with Vietnam. From what I have seen so far it is an absolute scenic nature with hills, jungle, wild life and white water.

As for the internet and many other things, there are still a lot of questions to be answered how my life will change the next month. But with the questions comes that fantatic sensation of adventure. And with the uncertainty of not knowing what is out there in my daily life, comes the space to be able to make independent choices. I'm motivated to do this work as it is an opportunity to add a bit of human dignity to a world in which there is much more to share than I have done for the last years of my life. I'm looking more than forward to share professional knowledge and experience with a country that is still structurally suffering from a devastating regime of the past. Cambodia is trying to develop itself towards a country with a social and economic dignity. I'm looking foward to share, but will probably learn much more than I can share with the population out there.

I will try to keep everyone who is interested up to date. I do prefer to email personally but it might be a bit difficult to have decent acces to internet connection in Cambodia.

Please don't hesitate to write and to share whatever you feel like sharing. I will appreciate that.
